Tuesday April 26 2011 - God shave the queen

Yesterday we had nice fish and other sea food at "Loch Fyne" in Covent Garden. Today we try out the London Eye, and do some shopping. Maybe we eat at Jamie Olivers Italian. Let's see...

Sunday April 24 2011 - Sisters and brothers

After have spended a family week in Båstad, we are now in Tallinn for some other family days. Staying over at Erwins three beautiful Estonian sisters. Check'em out at; http://www.threesistershotel.com/
Tomorrow we will be heading London. Then it will be just the small family of three...

Friday April 15 2011 - playing with the big boyz

Read in todays "Aftonbladet" that finally, after almost 200 years of peace, the Superswedes could join the big boys, and play war in Libya. Superfighter "JAS" entered Libyan airspace, and fired of it's cameras, and made a photo of an anti-aircraft gun. According to the Swedish military, this is the photo which will decide the outcoming of the war. Because of this contribution it will be a walk in the park for NATO. Again according to high rank Swedish officers.
Of course someone else will have to do the dirty job, as peace loving and ethical Swedes do not fire missiles.
We're as innocent as the guys standing in a ring at the school yard, watching a small kid get beaten up by five bigger ones, yelling; Hit him!!! Hit him!!

Another story that shows how human Swedes are;  I learned in military service once; Swedish 7,62mm ammunition is better balaced than the NATO equals (and of course much more expensive) The reason is to make smaller exit holes, after shooting someone. A headshot causes only an exit hole of a mandarine's size. Nato version? A orange sized hole. Swedes are soooo human :-) We also learned that the enemy always attacks from the east. But that was of course maaany years ago.

Seems now to be a chance to try out the ammunition theory in practice;
I read in the same paper that the Danes consider Swedes in general as idiots. I like those Danes, sort of... :-)
Wouldn't surprise me if Sweden now declare war against Denmark, the horns getting longer after the African escapade.
Last war was otherwise against Norwegians 1814. I guess the Norweigians won, but I don´t know for sure, as I was sick the day the subject was up in school, and I haven't Googled it...

Today is last day in school for little m. A two weeks spring break is ahead.
This will be celebrated at the brand new Osteria Undici (without little m...)

Tuesday April 12 2011 - just for the show

Nothing much new in this part of Europe. Some more days, and then little m has a two week spring-break. This we will spend in Båstad, Tallinn and London. Heard that there is still a lot of snow in Estonia, so we'll have to spend the time inside, since all winter clothes are stored away. Can't even remember where they are... :-)

Last Saturday they had a charity day at school. Collecting money for some I don't know what. Thought this was a favourite American habbit, but seems that the Brits are catching up. I HATE those kind of gatherings. Small talk with people you don't care a bit about. Lining up in long queues for stupid activities. More or less forced to spend money on lotteries, buying things you don't need and so on. I spent 40 EUR on a hot dog for the show, and skipped the rest. 3 wasted hours and a lousy mood later we finally went home, just to find out that I missed the Formula one qualifying... :-(   Won't happen again... :-)

Strawberry time! Nice gene manipulated berries;

Monday April 4 2011 - Thunder in the air

Last week I spent mostly in Italy and Slovenia. The highlight of this working trip was a dinner at Trattoria Tony del Spin in Treviso. Even if my working colleague got sick and headed for the hotel after ordering his food, I had a great evening. Enjoying italian cooking and wine at its best. Lucky me got double portions of everything... :-)

I think April is one of my twelve favourite months. Trees are blossoming, everything is light green, and there are loads of half naked tourists roaming the streets. All restaurants have built up their outside serving area. Grilling season has started with long slow evenings on our roof terrace, and still not boring :-) However today we had to escape inside again, as the first real thunderstorm of the season attacked us... Now preparing steaks, chicken drumsticks and sausages on the electric grill in the kitchen.
A long warm summer is ahead.

Friday March 25 2011 - The roof is on fire....

Now the roof terrace is ready for summer!! A couple of days work transformed it from winter sleep to "Grilltauglich"
Weather has been really nice the last week.  23 degrees today, or 22,7 to be more precise In the shadow of course. No cheating with the sensor on a black wall in the sun!!! However some rain a a little colder weather is expected for Sunday. But who cares; It will be a day full of inside activities; Formula 1, pancakes and lazy hours with a book. Maybe I will jogg as well, lets see... I have been really good in this activity last week. Margit Island is a beautiful place just now. Everything is getting green and the air is full of pollen. Achoo :-)

Tonight we will eat at T&G - what a surprise, huh? :-)

Before and after (or opposit...);

Sunday March 20th 2011 - PC & DH

Today we had a very slow day. Pancakes with DH of course. Also had time to evaluate the weather data for the past 24 hrs. Very interesting...
Forgot to mention yesterday that Kajsa and Willem finally got their new car. If not perfect, then at least superb...

Saturday March 19 2011 - new toy

Yesterday I came back again after a slippery ride on ice and snow. Summertyres are NOT designed for that kind of conditions. First shock was when I left the ice hall in Ängelholm in Thursday evening. Everything was under a 5cm snow blanket. Still made it in time for the ferry between Trelleborg and Rostock. Next encounter with white roads was in Erzgebirge, and next between Praha and Brno. It's supposed to be spring, not winter... Still made it back home in time for T&G :-)
What I did in an ice hall? Went to see Rögle get beaten by Växsjö Lakers. This miserable game I saw together with Linda, Victor, Anna, Hilda, Maja and Willem.
Today I have assembled and fired up my brand new, high tech "weather station". It collects and reports all possible and unpossible information regarding the weather on our roof. All data goes online to my computer. I get all kind of statistics and diagrams. I LOVE statistics and diagrammes... :-)

Friday March 11 2011 - deal, or no deal??

Tuesday me and Linda started our road trip in a warm sunny Marbella. 3300 km later we ended up in a cold snowy Båstad. Had to escape back to springish Budapest again. But not for long. Will have a new road trip next week; Budapest Båstad forth and back. Have I ever mentioned that I like to be on the move...
Tomorrow we will buy a new bicycle for little m, the old one is suddenly too small.
Maybe I will start to make the terrace summer ready this weekend. The wooden floor boards have to be oiled, the 80 plants to be trimmed and muchas more... It's a nice work to do in the sun.
Next week is the "World book day", and all the kids in the school will dress up as their favourite book hero. We have tried to convince little m that her hero is Pippi Longstocking, the "Pippi" books are after all written by a swede, and illustrated by an estonian. (Very pedagodic we think) Reluctantly she tried out the outfit I just bought her.
She's still not totally convinced, she rather would be a princess (as always...) but in the end I'm sure big M will come to a deal with her (as always...)

Friday March 4 2011 - Pigga igen

I have had throat pain for the whole February. Big M as well. Little ditto hasn’t. She’s small, but strong as a pepper, as they say here in Hungary.
Anyway, we got a hint of a miracle drug that could be bought without prescription. It had text in Cyrillic (probably Russian) and a picture of a pig on the label. It’s a spray, almost like an asthma-spray.
Contents antibiotics, and is most likely a vet product. Doesn’t matter; because it works. Meaning we are now symptom free! Yes!!!
This is also verified by Dr Danos at First Med. I had my yearly health exam yesterday, and passed with highest notes. Almost. Have to drink more water, and I got some pills for or against thyroid. Is that a disease?? Anyway they are small, so it isn’t really an effort to take them, (eeh- the pills) and if it keeps my doctor happy…

Sunday I will fly to Marbella. Promised to accompany Linda as she will drive her car from there to Sweden.  Hopefully be back home again on Thursday. At least I have a ticket booked from Copenhagen till then.

Still too cold here, but spring is promised by some weather gurus.
Little M became star of the week for the fourth time.  I’m as proud as she is…

Tonight we will mingle at T&G. Yes, the world is still very in order.

Monday February 28 2011 - short circuit

Rögle are in play-off
arabs are dealing with their leaders in a good way

Sunday February 20th - Q and Q

Now life slowly getting back to normal again. All February we have been on tour, more or less. Last week we were in Sweden where we spent quality AND quantity time with the kids up there. I mean why choose between Q and Q when you can have both...?
And why have an Iphone when you can have a Nokia. I love my new C7!!!
Have been out jogging again after a 3 week jogging break. Felt really good :-)

Tomorrow little m will be back to school after her ski break. H&M will take over, as next week is off school for them. Have fun :-)

During the month I got grandpa, (LVHm got aunts and V became an uncle, amd M grandma - sort of...) and I also had time to celebrate my 30th birthday;

             Fastlagsbullen

             Cake factory

             Birthday breakfast

Sunday February 2011 - Paella party

Yesterday we held the yearly m party, an event with only Hungarians. No fellow expats at all...
As usuall we had Paella á la Limi, and marengue cake with Daim. History tend to repeat itself...
The shrimp and salmon for the Paella I found at Ikea Food. They also sell very nice "schnaps"
Today Pancake and episode 17 (year 6) of DH. Then me and m went for some serious shopping at Praktiker, it's more or less same thing as BauMax and all the other wannabees on the same theme. Only difference is that at Praktiker you can also buy destilling equipment for home use  I don't think you can buy thay at N.P.Nilsson... ;-))
Tomorrow we fly to Sweden for 5 days. All of us this time, as little m has ski-break.
Look out Båstad - here we come...

Thursday February 10 2011 - The south-east European Rally

Two days, four capitals, four company visits and 1800 km later I am back home again. Just in time to meet my double m's at Trattis. I also had time to buy some very good quality wine from Montenegro. They are now sound asleep in the baby chamber. They will rest there for a year or two before we will enjoy the content.
My problem now is that my wine storage is getting full soon. Seems that I buy a hell of a lot more wine than I drink. At least at home. The most wine drinking happens actually at restaurants.
Maybe I will tell M that we need a new one... But I guess there will be a very negative reaction. I better tell her I need two, then she will be happy when I only drag home one. Could that be a good strategy??

Tuesday February 8 2011 - alone again

Vacation is over, and everyone has left Budapest in different directions. Little m has turned 6, and now has to use two hands to show her age. Big girl. I also have turned something; into grandpa!! Little Selma popped out yesterday. Maybe I have to grow a beard and get Parkinson? Hmm, dont think so... I remain what I am...
Tomorrow I leave for Slovenia and Serbia. Have promised to be back in time for Trattis on Thursday.
Wheather? pretty springish...
Also found some relatves from USA to add to our family tree... Also an interesting story about Buck

Mountaineer;

Wednesday February 2011 - halftime

Three days on snow, three more to go, haven't seen as much as the smallest cloud on the sky so far. We ski a lot, eat even more, and waste the surplus calories on afterski parties. As every year... :-)

Monday January 31st - Top of the mountain

Now we had our first day on skies. Perfect conditions and plenty of sunshine.

Friday January 28th 2011 - The summon

Today we have gathered here in Budapest for tomorrows ride to Ischgl. We are a little fewer than previous years, as Kajsa don't want to deliver in the slopes and Victor had to cancel during the week.
Anyway the hard core wintersporters are here; Linda, Hilda and Maja. So it will be 6 of us. Picked up our rental van today. It's HUGE, and looks very posh.
Right now the girls have set up a nailstudio in the kitchen. They will shine at T&G tonight.

Friday January 21st 2011 - TGI Friday

Days and weeks are passing in such a high speed, that I have forgotten to blog as frequently as I would wish…

We are back to a nice school/work/work-out routine after the looong winter break. Linda flew in on Wednesday for a short stop on her way to Zagreb. She took the car from here, to pimp it up a bit with dark foil on the windows. Will look like a mafia vehicle when she’ll be back on Sunday. Monday she will head direction Sweden again, and be back on next Friday with a bunch of sisters and a brother.

It is the Sandberg family who’s keeping  European airway companies busy…

Next Saturday is D-day for our yearly assault on Austria. To divert their attention we’ll attack from east, and not from north as we use to. We’ll take them totally off guard :-)
I have also managed to loose some more kilos, and I’m close to the promised target weight. Takes some efforts though. Have been jogging back and forth through the city for almost 90km since New Year. Tell me I’m good… (as a true Aquarius, I need to receive much praise… ) :-)

Today I picked up my new contacts, which I ordered a long time ago. Got some training at the optician’s, and now I’m on my own with those tricky almost invisible little bowls.

They are progressive, as only reading is my problem. They are so-so. Reading glasses are better for reading, but for computer and daily use they seem ok.

Little m got “the Star of the Week” award for being the best student in Hungarian this week.

And, YES, the Budapest marathon is to recommend…

Sunday January 16 2011 - lost in space

I wrote a long story and lost it :-(

Sport makes tired... :-)
